Ms. Mary Hook, Director of Technology, Library and Media
Welcome to Manistique Area Schools. I joined Manistique Area Schools and the Manistique School & Public Library in July of 1998 at a time when having a Technology Director in a school system was new to schools. It was a time when technology was starting to influence nearly every aspect of education from record keeping to instruction.
I started my education right here in Manistique. I am a 1981 graduate of Manistique High School. I went to Lake Superior State College and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science in May of 1985. I worked in a small computer training institute for three years prior to starting at the University of Michigan-Flint as a Staff Development Specialist and a Computer Systems Specialist. I move to Merit Network in 1996 where I was a Computer Systems Consultant.
After returning to Manistique in 1998 I decided to work on my Masters in Education and Community Leadership. I received that degree in 2001.
I find great reward in assisting students, staff and patrons with technology use as I feel that I have been blessed with the skills that I have acquired over the years. I look forward to every year bringing new challenges in education and doing my best to make the transitions to new and exciting technology easy and pain free.
